Ford is looking ahead to 2020 as a year of great change: it recently announced that it intends to replace as much as 75% of its lineup in the next two years, dropping the average showroom age from 5.7 years to 3.3 years. Translation: expect more new Fords, more often.
“Our passion for great vehicles is stronger than ever,” said Jim Hackett, Ford president and CEO. “This showroom transformation will thrill customers, drive profitable growth and further build toward our future of smart vehicles in a smart world.”
This new product onslaught will include the launch of exciting new hybrid vehicles. This doesn’t just include the already-announced Ford Mustang Hybrid and F-150 Hybrid, but also hybrid versions of the Escape, Explorer, and all-new Bronco.
Speaking of the Bronco, Ford also revealed that it will have a little sibling—an as-yet-unnamed small SUV for off-roading that Ford President of Global Markets Jim Farley says will help the automaker “reclaim our rightful place as the off-road vehicle leader.”
With respect to on-road performance, it was also announced that the all-new Edge ST will be joined by a high-performance Explorer ST. Ford also announced that it plans to bring 4G LTE connectivity to all vehicles in its lineup by the end of next year.
