Have you got a furry friend at home? Bring them out to Laura S. Walker State Park on Oct. 12 for a nice hike out on the Big Creek Nature Trail. Begin the journey at the new dog park near the park office. It’s a perfect time to show off your pet’s costume for the contest. Starts at 2 p.m. and runs till 3:30 p.m.

Pumpkin Fest — Phoenix Park

Thursday, Oct. 24 from 5-7:30 p.m. is the annual Waycross-Ware County Chamber of Commerce Pumpkin Fest. Head on down to Phoenix Park for candy, free games, a costume contest and a pumpkin carving contest. Bring the whole family.

Fall Festival — Laura S. Walker State Park

The 24th annual Fall Festival is taking place Oct. 26 from 3-7 p.m. at the park campgrounds. There’ll be all kinds of games for the kids to play as well as hayrides, face painting, food, and bingo. If you’re camping there that night, join the campsite decoration contest. Winners can receive free camping, kayak and bike rentals.
